I wonder if the IT controllers concerned will be prosecuted for failing in their duty to protect their system and would they get the same treatment?
If you leave a book open then it is likely that someone will try reading it.
If you don't want it read then you have to protect it. Imagine a bank that failed to protect its data. Would you expect no-one to read that data. And whose fault would it be.
The US Government want too many powers to punish when the first falure is theirs. They are guilty of aiding and abetting this crime. Perhaps the UK could claim that this is a malicious prosecution to protect the guilty ones in the US. The trouble is that Tony to so far up the nether regions of George Bush that it would not happen until after he has left office! - Posted by: Tedscribe@...
