For the security conscious customer I agree
People who care about security and are willing to do something about it do not need Vista. But XP isn't good enough for people who know nothing about security and don't give it a moment's thought until something bad happens. And unfortunately there IS a gap in available applications between the Windows platform and the other platforms. Not in everyday applications so much as the specialized ones, of which (like it or not) everybody seems to need at least one for what they do on a computer.

The DRM is a non-factor for me. DRM can only lock you out of DRM protected media, so if I avoid the media I avoid the DRM. That just relegates DRM to being another piece of software I'll never use. And all the other stuff is par for the course for a Microsoft operating system, so I could either choose to abide by their terms and put up with the inconveniences, or I can choose another operating system. As such, I only use MS operating systems where it's the only financially responsible choice, however because there are so many specialized apps for Windows this happens much more than I'd like.

However, it seems that many of these specialized apps do not work in Vista, at least not yet. This is Vista's biggest Achilles Heel, not the DRM or the security.
