I agree - Trend is better than most AV programs
I too use Pc-cillin at home, and the Trend Enterprise Suite at work. The ScanMail, OfficeScan, and ServerProtect have proven over the past 8 years to be really great products, and have stood the test of time against Symantec's AV offerings. I like the small footprint that the real-time scan engine has, and the easy-to-use product.

I was once a Norton AV user, and our company, when part of a bigger enterprise in its previous life, also used Norton AV. What used to kill me with the Symantec stuff was the constant reboots and the system resource hog. We would have to load the new patterns in everyday as part of our login into the very slow corporate network. The users would finally get themselves logged in, and the machine would prompt to restart! You know as well as I that the users did not reboot to load the pattern updates so there were numerous problems with malware outbreaks.

When we were sold off from the other company in 1999, we purchased Trend as an alternative, and the product has proven its weight not only at work but at home. In between, I've trialed Panda and McAfee. Panda was okay, and I would recommend it as an alternative to Trend if necessary. What I didn't like was the "in your face" approach of the software. McAfee was just plain lousy, and was almost like a virus its self along with its annoying "in your face" interface.

Overall I understand that no product is perfect, and no software package is perfect. I commend Trend for admitting there is a problem before the information got leaked to the press. This is unlike other companies we know of that deny problems until it's too difficult to hide them.
