Never had a problem with Trend
I'm now at my third company that uses Trend's Enterprise AV software (OfficeScan) and I've never had a problem with any of the desktop clients. Now, I will admit that their Enterprise client and their home client are not the same. However, my father's laptop came with an OEM install of PC-cillin and he's never had a problem with it bogging down his machine. I got a free copy of PC-cillin from our sales rep and installed it on my husbands new laptop instead of using the Norton that came with it and he's had no problems either. On the other hand, I don't think you could pay me to install Norton or McAfee voluntarily. Norton came as the OEM AV solution on my mom's new laptop and has NEVER worked correctly - no matter what I tried. It's always been a system pig and takes over everything and doesn't like to give it back. I haven't had any experience with McAfee for a few years now but I never liked the way that worked for updates - far too "in your face" for most end-users I know. I also use AVG on a few of my home computers (including my mom's laptop after I finally gave up on Norton) and I've had no problems with it other than the need to re-download and install the new version every year.
