What kind of crap is that slam of Avast? i have used the free Home version of Avast for several years and have NEVER had a problem with it. It does NOT install any such spyware or other malware. It is NOT difficult to uninstall, and for the number of times it has successfully detected and eliminated viruses that neither TrendMicro nor Norton could, i can't imagine why one would WANT to uninstall it.

To others reading the previous post: do not believe it. i install Avast on any new PC i work on, and i've had more people thank me for doing so. The only "catch" i can report for Avast is that it requires an annual re-registration, which is also free. i've never received a single spam traceable to Avast or Alwil software, and the registration process doesn't ask for anything more than a name and an email address (to which they send the license code and NOTHING else).
