Poor excuse
How much time would it take to recover from your computer getting wiped by a virus or your important information being stolen by some type of attack?

I get Windows Update, including Windows Defender, updates to my AntiVirus (Trend), updates to my Spy Sweeper Spyware, and updates to Firefox and Thunderbird automatically. It never takes even 15 minutes. Most days it is only a couple of minutes or even less and it takes place mostly in the background.

The updates that take any significant length of time come rather rarely.

Using an extremely bloated estimate of time is a poor rationalization to skip updates.

If you have a slow connection, you can easily figure out a way to do the updates when you are going to be eating, cooking, going out for errands, etc.

Update, update, update!!!
