Ignorant of history
Firefox ver 1.0 had a lineage going back before IE existed, and was better than any ver of IE which was available when FF 1.0 was available (your definition of "struggling" is a strange one).

FF is descended of Netscape, which was one of the two top browsers of the time (the other being Web Explorer) that IE named itself for in the first place.

Macdonalds' does more inhouse food than any other vendor, but that doesn't make it GOOD food -- just popular. Very few people pass by a steak for a Big Mac. Doing a lot of something doesn't mean that you're doing it better.
