Almost every OS has been targeted by some form of malware...
but when you compare >140,000 malware threats targeting the windows in 2006 compared to the <40 for mac os x and < 400 for all linux and unix based os combined...it becomes clear that windows is the favorite target.

The threats are so few against these other OS that they can patch and respond fairly quickly, making many of these obsolete before they ever spread or affect users.

I can see how they would feel safer.
