Not surprised, Windows Defender doesn't work either
I have yet to see a Microsoft security program that worked. The firewall in both XP SP2 and Vista is half-baked, as today's ZDNet proclaims. I have given Windows Defender a 6 month try on 3 different computers. It has never found anything wrong during scans, but following scanning behind Defender with either Spybot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware finds plenty.

So I finally gave up and removed Windows Defender, which of course caused a false positive with Windows Genuine Disadvantage. As soon as I removed Windows Defender, my copy of XP was no longer legit, and had to be re-validated and re-registered. Sure impressed me into buying Vista - NOT!

Since that episode this week, I remain more committed than ever to weaning the family network away from Windows operating systems - 3 purchased XP Pro licenses. And since MS Office is tied to Windows, as is virtually all Microsoft software, their going to lose some coin from me.

my thoughts, your choices
