Common misconception
It's a common misconception that more patches must mean the software is less secure.

In fact, it may well be the opposite.

If linux and windows both started with 1,000 security holes, and linux has had 900 patches and windows has had 500, which is now more secure?

Of course, it's not likely like that, but it makes the point that the number of updates is NOT related to how secure the software is, and may even be inverse to it.
