Its not the first time I have seen someone have to explain at length why they really don't care about something. And thats almost always when the person who is has to have it explained to them why someone really dosnt care just cannot accept the fact that another person dosnt really care.
Sure, people may sometimes care in a passing sort of way, simply as a matter of conversation or topic of minor interest when they are saying they don't care; but I think you know what he meant. He dosnt care a lot or in some significant way whats happening with Apple or OSX.
Ask most agnostics if they care about a specific religion and they will usually say no. Ask them how they could have absolutely no feelings about what effects various religions around the world are having on people and they will likely respond that that question implies something quite different then what they thought the first question was about. And you are completely wrong about:
"If you were really agnostic, you'd be quite happy to have a Mac given to you for free."
In this case the agnostic label is concerning the particular "name brand" of computer hardware/software, not agnostic as to how a particular brand of hardware/software performs. The implication being that the name brand matters not. What the product can do, independently of its brand name, is what is important. That means that when Apple can do everything a Windows box can do at a similar price he would be interested. I would be too. - Posted by: Cayble Posted on: 01/28/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
