My hammer and spanner
I was a computer engineer 17 years ago, repairing 386 pcs when you only had 640k ram, I got my first computer at 11, it was a zx81 with 1k ram...
Now I have a sony vaio, a generic tower pc i built, and an intel macbook pro.
The constant bickering on this website about which is better, pc or mac is really tedious and pointless, it is akin to asking whether a spanner or a hammer is more useful.
I bought a mac just because the band that i work for write all their music on macs. I needed to gain a better understanding of osx so I could help them when things go wrong.
Pc users have a vast choice of software so they believe macs are limited in this respect.
Mac users believe their computers to be more stable and less prone to crashing and infections.
The truth is that some things are easier on a mac than a pc, and some are easier on a pc.
Typing a letter or editing a photo is easy on either system, but if you want to do something creative like writing music or make an animated movie then macs don't get in the way of creative flow. If however you want to play games or write documents that are more compatible with most computer users then use a pc.
If you buy a bmw, you rely on bmw parts for repair. If you buy a ford, you can buy cheaper parts that weren't made by ford.
That doesn't mean ford is better, just that there are more of them.
I love my mac and my vaio, they both do what i tell them to, just in a different way.
