I don't have any experience with OSX having been exclusively a Windows user since my iMac died, but I still miss the "it just works" feel of my old iMac. I'd really have to think about it to identify what was different about the Mac, but everytime I have to repeatedly go down the same directory structure, or reset the font or style of text I've pasted, or go back and foerth, trying to highlight the text I want, I remember that my old iMac understood me much better than Windows can. I liked the way the Mac didn't "help" me with things like highlighting or formatting text. But, no, you don't really need a Mac, especially if you've never experienced one.
