a Mac for free? nah, no thanks
no, my line of argument is not a fraud. I am quite willing to admit I do not like Steve Jobs; he is arrogant and full of himself. I don't like Macs because they are overpriced and underpowered. Mr. Jobs certainly knows this, otherwise he would make his (now) Intel-compatible Mac OS available for non-Mac machines. He won't do this, because his hardware is all style and little substance. Take away the Apple hype and the machines are unremarkable devices; any run of the mill Dell, HP or whitebox machine at Comp USA is better than a Mac.

No, it's true, I really won't take a Mac if somebody gave it to me for free. It simply serves no purpose. It is exactly like WordPerfect - a fine, functional product that I don't need and have no use for. What would I do with a Mac if I had one ?? The answer is, simply, nothing. It's not about religion or being a fanatic or being beholden to a vendor, being deceived, ill-informed, etc. etc. etc.

The fact is, for many consumers, Macs serve no purpose. If that were not true, Macs would have 50% of the market instead of 2% or 3%. Customers vote with their wallets, not with rhetoric (on ZdNet or elsewhere). The facts speak for themselves.
