Another Word zero-day bug used in attacks
"There have been very limited attacks reported that are attempting to use the reported vulnerability at this time," a Microsoft representative said Thursday in a statement about the latest problem. The company is investigating this latest report and may issue a patch, if needed, the representative said.

Straight from the horse's mouth. Very limited attacks. The attacker has to entice the user to open the Word documents. ZDNet is making this into a bigger deal than it really is. Given the above information I'd say this isn't worth the time at all. People will stop and know something is wrong when they are enticed to open a Word <ocument. Not only that but the antivirus software will catch it before it becomes a problem. This thing is gone before it ever started.
