I don't agree with that statement.

Upgrading for the sake upgrading, especially in a production environment is just idiotic. Replacing end of life equipment is something different.

The only logical reasons to screw around with working gear and stable software is a vulnerability such as this or to add wanted features.

Rule number one: if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
