Does it matter?
How was the Hack done that's the question.

I doubt the web servers were the point of intrusion but it could be. I put my money on another way though. Web servers are usually protected and watched as it's the most obvious point of entery into a network. Now if I were a hacker I'd avoid them beyond using the info provided on them for footprinting. I'd look for a branch office, something small somewhere. They are often forgotten about when it comes to security and they usually have remote connection via VPN or such into the corporate network. A few phone calls to the branch office might net me a password or two as well. Just tell a user there that you are tech for the company. It's not like anyone questions tech in a branch office. Sure in corporate HQ they would but not that little office half-way accross the country.

In this case it really doesn't matter what OS people are using. A good hacker would even be noticed if they pulled this off right. Sloppy hackers leave traces that security people can put together.
