while i sort of agree...
i agree with the fact that they should suffer a financial penalty for white collar
crimes, i believe it should be in addition to a prison senetence. OR even better,
make them PAY for their own prison time as the penalty, which doesn't seem too
unreasonable.
I just feel that jail is a neccesity for white collar criminals, because it really knocks
them down off their high horse and puts them in the jungle without any sort of
resource. i don't think they will have the means to defend themselves from the
typical muscle bound gang member a maximum security prison. After a few good
poundings in the shower he'll probably regret what he did, which is really what
prison should do, instead of creating someone who is waiting to do their time to
just get out and be a repeat offender.
Also What is a white collar criminal going to learn in prison? drug trafficing? the
underground education thats goes on in prisons isn't typically white collar
because you usually need special means to pull it off, and since blue collar crime
is so much more common.
