My Security system...
I'm of the persuasion that the best security is done by four different companies. Expensive? yeah, kinda. but you can also pick and choose which pieces you need, and IMO create the best defense you can get...

1. Antivirus: www.eset.com for NOD32. not the prettiest, just the most effective. 23MB installed, 15MB of ram(or less) for resident scanner, command line and script support...and independent test after independent test rank it as THE most effective at detecting and removing viruses. As an added bonus, being one of the lesser known scanners, those viruses that disable processes of more well-known scanners don't know what hit 'em. $39.99/year

2. Firewall: www.zonelabs.com is the nome of Zonealarm, which has also been very highly rated for a software firewall. While I personally just use my Linksys router, any paranoid client of mine that feels they need added intrusion security gets this freeware, effective firewall installed. The best and worst part is that you have to make your own whitelist from scratch. This is good in that I've seen viruses that name themselves as processes on Norton's whitelist that ship with the product, but bad in that for the first week, it asks you about EVERYTHING!

3. Spyware: www.webroot.com - Webroot's spy sweeper. Of all of the Joey roundup, this is the most resource intensive. it's scans are slow, it can be annoying at times (if you add a favorite or startup app it asks you if you REALLY want it on your list), but again, sheer effectiveness make it worth your while. if you go on their site, click the Kim Komando link toward the bottom, and they give you two years for the price of one - $29.

4. extraneous utilities: www.wincleaner.com - their one-click cleanup program is a quick way to get rid of all the gunk on your computer that works wonders at keeping your registry, temp directories, and history folders garbage free. $29 forever...

So yeah THAT's my security suite.
