This is basically a revision
Before they had laws that made it illegal to pretext to gain financial information. This is for phone information.

This type of attack would allow for easier access for identity theft.

Although it does serve as additional legislation to add fines for other crimes, breaking a federal law does carry a nice stiff fine.
