Stop calling them that!!
Stop calling Symantec a security company!
They're not a security company, they are an anti-virus company. Even their mediocre (at best) firewall, and other so-called "security" products, display an anti-virus way of looking at things, not a security point of view.
If you still belabor under the delusion that anti-virus is a security product, check out George Ou's blog (a couple of examples: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=234, and http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=368) and my responses to hime there. In short, the very concept of anti-virus is contrary to contemporary security principles.
And yet, Symantec is one of the world's biggest proponents of anti-virus being a core security product that should be present, at the very least, on every pc, server, OS, or machine.

Just goes to show you that Symantec knows little about security... just like when they demanded that the ring0, the most secure part of the kernel, be thrown wide open so that they can ensure "security".
Not to mention that they have no idea about the difference between "secure products" and "security products"....

And yet again, they are once again proving their misunderstanding of security by trying to "override" UAC.
And this time, there's a bonus - they also get to insult their customers, blaming them for all security incidents, and calling them "the weakest link"...

(As an aside, ZD, why the ... is a univeristy student being quoted as a source to show that UAC is not well implemented?? Seriously, you couldnt find anybody better? Even Eric Raymond, at least he know a thing or two about technology (if not much else), I'm sure you could have gotten an anti-MS quote from him??)
