This is a good thing!
Microsoft is a great company, in the same way that an elephant is a great animal. They are both very big. That however, does not make me want to trust Microsoft with my security needs. Look, Microsoft has been in the big leagues of the software business from DOS 1.0, and every few weeks from then they have been issuing updates, and upgrades. Yes they have written VISTA, but even now, before the public release they are issuing patches. Now after all these years, when they still can't write solid code, why on earth should I trust them to handle all the security features.
I for one will not buy VISTA until there is a alternative to Microsoft's own brand of security. I believe that Symantec, McAfee and other security companies are much better equipped to provide my security needs than Microsoft ever will.
