This seems a ridiculously trivial act for such severe retribution. According to the article, nothing of the campus could be seen so it could have been a truck delivering Macs to anywhere.

What if instead of a genuine photo he'd simply used a photo of a truck delivering Macs and just said they were at MS? Is that still sackable?

What possible breach of security could he have perpetrated? What is insecure about knowing that Macs are delivered to MS? What did he divulge that couldn't be ascertained by someone simply standing at the fence and watching?

I continue to be amused that it is an offence to transmit military information - including tactics, drills, strategies, etc. - to anyone via any means, yet every time the military put on a parade they are doing exactly that. They are publicly displaying their weapons, formations, drills, even minor tactics and strategies - how many times have news reports featured special forces rappelling from choppers, tossing in stun grenades, storming buildings, etc?

Seems the Mac G5 blog affair falls into the same category.
