In my experience, Mac users buy Office for exactly the same reason most Windows users buy it: to be compatible. There is no detailed reasoning or evaluation, it's just what everyone has (one of Bit's "de facto standards"). For most Mac users, it's a choice of Microsoft Office or Apple Works.

I currently use Office 2000, XP and V.x and can say that V.x and 2000 are both pretty good, XP sux. Once again, MS have gone bezerk with the interface and default options so that "upgrading" has been a headache for everyone I know that has done it.

As far as I'm concerned, V.x is the best of the lot, however MS still hasn't worked out contextual dialogs. Lotus WordPro had them sussed about 5 years ago, MS still comes out with utterly confusing crap like XP's styles dialog that is a munge of old and new, with a bit of web metaphor tossed in with total disrespect for their own UI guidelines ... ugghhh.

Maybe in 3 more versions, or so...
