Long Term Temp at MS
A long term temp at MS can spend up to one year working for the company, after which they must take a 90 day break from working at MS; after which they may return to working for the company. This was a policy set in place in 2000 after the Microsoft vs Viscaino Permatemp trial (which temp workers won in class action and I know I'm eagerly awaiting my check from the payout).

Correct is that MS pays no benefits to temporary employees, BUT on average the temps make more per hour, have more flexibility and more freedom than typical MS permanent employees. Also, unless you work for a really crappy contract firm, you generally do get benefits including vacation, medical, dental, 401K, etc... they just aren't provided by MS.
