Reducing prices would go a long ways
I know I buy more DVDs when they are $20 or less. When a DVD is more than $20 I only buy what I really want. When they are less than $20 I tend to a lot more chances on DVDs. The way I look at it is I can rent the movie for $5 but if the movie is $15 I will probably just buy it. So they make a lot more money if they can convince me to buy instead of rent. So sales would definitely increase.

Then there is the whole DRM scheme. That has to come a heavy cost. A cost that is passed on to consumers or eaten by the corporation if they don't want want raise prices any further. So doing away with the DRM would mean a savings. A savings that would probably allow them to lower the price of DVDs while still maintaining the same profit margin per DVD sold. So not only would they increase sales they'd not lose that much in profit. So over all they end up getting a ton more profit.

I've tried downloading a movie and burning it DVD. It was a DVD set I can't buy in Region 1 and I can't buy a region 2 DVD without trying to find a region code free DVD player. So I downloaded the first disk of 6 Disk box set for season 7 of this show. What a pain! I gave up on it decided I'll wait for it to finally be released here, still waiting too. Sure some might think the work is worth but most won't and those that do go through the trouble of downloading and burning probably won't pay for DVDs even if the only were $1. They are freeloaders and freeloaders don't pay any price. Just a good thing that 90% of the population isn't that way. They only go through the trouble of pirating when prices go too high or content is made unavailable to them.
