In Canada we had the War Measures act going in the PLQ crisis. PLQ were terrorist from Quebec for those who don't know. Anyways that act was abused so badly and it took like 10 years to come to public attention.

Also we have a similiar thing to the Patriot act going in Canada. It contributes to racial profiling. Like a Indian Student flys by a nuke power plant and is arrested with no charge and held for several months. Seems like over reaction to me.

I wonder how we will look back on this period. Another time to hold our heads in shame? Maybe.
