Foolish..
For one, how about Jose Padilla?
He may be a dispicable human being but in detaining him the DoJ violated the supreme law of the land. He is a U.S. citizen and as rotten as he may be, is guaranteed due process by the Constitution. The "Patriot Act" (which no true patriot would ever support) was used to violate the Constitution.

Now a little knowledge and wisdom would serve well here. They will of course be careful in their use of the "Patriot Act" knowing full well that they will be seeking to make portions permanent and even expanding this power at some point. They will avoid giving ammunition to those opposed to the "Patriot Act". All one needs to do is look at history and one realizes that all power is eventually abused. It's not a matter of if, only when.

Using the "Patriot Act" the government can make someone just disappear. I remember the horror stories about the evil empire (USSR) using these tyrannical methods and most Americans were outraged. Now it's here and the people don't seem concerned.
