Locking up for life would be a bit dis-proportionate. As for bail, they have already been sentences so you're getting a bit behind yourself there.

It does bother me though just how easily some people (particularly violent people) can get bail. It almost disturbs me as much as the penchant of some to jump to violence as a premature "solution."
