BSD Stack and Microsoft
For the record, Microsoft got caught for not acknowleging the BSD network stack in the author/copyright notices. Apple did not hide the use of BSD/Mach in their OS.

Hmm that's what I would call a 'half-truth'.

Back when Microsoft did have BSD code in their TCP stack they probably didn't even know it, as they originally licensed it from another company. For all anyone knows, that company might have stripped the copyright notice crediting Berkley before selling their code to Microsoft - or some ignorant Microsoft programmer just removed it himself. The fact that Microsoft actually paid for the code is the funny part. wink They should have just used the stack from BSD in the first place.

Note that in Windows, finger.exe, ftp.exe, nslookup.exe, rcp.exe, and rsh.exe all are based on BSD sources, and you can find the credits in the respective files.
