I see, so you're still convinced that "security by ignorance" can work....

Hackers are said to be a notoriously chatty bunch. But if we're honest with ourselves, we know that's only true of chatty hackers...non-chatty hackers -- now, we wouldn't know about them, would we?

So who's to say that all those various system-control flaws out there weren't being exploited all along -- but quietly? Or that the exploits were being explained and bragged-over, but in forums that the security community was monitoring, or in terms that they didn't understand?

In any case, your approach leads you rapidly into an untenable position: When things inevitably fail (as they inevitably do), an environment that's kept secure by ignorance will have no defenses.
