In case you forgot...
the computer is the consumers property, not Microsofts. Microsoft makes an OS that allows 3rd party software to run and created the expectation from PC buyers that the MS OS will continue to do so. MS 'owns' the OS, but the 3rd software is 'placed' on the hard-drive, not on Microsoft's product. Microsoft's product is advertized and being compatible with 3rd party stuff. Microsoft needs to get more like Apple if they want to supply the complete system. But even Apple allows 3rd party software...
