Clueless M$ supporter
Maybe you got confused by all of the big words but the article clearly states that Symantec fixed this bug back in May. My personal version of NIS checks for, downloads, and installs updates to the program automatically. Blame this more on the businesses (like the one for which I work) who do NOT allow their software to be patched automatically and who don't assume the responsibility to look for and apply patches (if they aren't going to let it be done automatically).

I'm not going to say that the Symantec products are the best things out there. I think their products have been in a steady decline over the last few versions but that still puts them WAY ahead of M$ and their shoddy software.

Symantec had, what, 1 flaw back in May? M$ has had patches for 6 - 12 flaws EVERY MONTH since then and THESE are the people in whom you want to place your trust?!? How clueless is that?!?

Oh, and the Norton products have been doing Live Updates for longer than M$ has even thought about doing them AND I've never seen any evidence that Symantec has ever snuck something like Windows Not-So-Genuine Advantage onto my PC, like M$ tried to do.

So, is Symantec the best company to trust for securing your PC? No, maybe not (and I'm going to look into some of the other stuff recommended here), but I'll take Symantec EVERY time before I'll trust M$ to secure ANYTHING on my PC.
