You're seriously nuts...
...if you think it won't run on 95% of the public hardware out there. Windows XP was the greatest selling copy of Windows ever, selling 600 million copies. XP launched in 2001, the same year that the Pentium 4 launched. Given that all you need to run Windows Vista is 512 MB of RAM and a Pentium 4, I think your statement is way off-base.

Most computers will need a mere memory upgrade to run Vista, and maybe a graphics card, too. GMA950 runs Aero just fine, though... and that's the integrated graphics that's been around for quite awhile BEFORE Vista's launch. The majority of the public's computer's won't run Windows Vista with Aero, I don't imagine... but it's the security that I was getting at in my post. And that's included, by and large, in even the most basic Vista editions.
