I remember...
...a friend of mine needed her laptop fixed. After a few hours of work, I'd cleaned out most of the malware and most of the virii, but it looked like there were a few stubborn thorns stuck in the system. I tried going to Windows Live OneCare Safety Center and even SYMANTEC'S VERY OWN "Symantec Security Check" website. I couldn't, because Norton kept preventing me from installing the ActiveX control required for BOTH of those sites.

Her version of Norton had, previously, been "uninstalled" improperly. Norton was still there, barely functioning... and it was actually protecting the remaining virii. I couldn't remove it from the Add/Remove Programs panel, as the uninstaller was corrupt or missing, but there it was.

I will never, EVER, use Symantec software again. There are certain companies I wish bankruptcy on, bankruptcy as a result of their stupidity. Symantec is one of them. I hope they go bankrupt and I hope people hunt Norton programmers for amusement. Ugh. They're as bad as RealNetworks.
