Try Avast!
Try Avast! - free for home use, you need to 'register' (free) for the key, and this can be renewed yearly.
I am currently evaluating this product, and early signs are good. It includes P2P and IM protection, the only extra the corporate product has is script blocking which the free version does not have.

We will be roling this out to our corporate LAN over the Xmas break.

I agree - AVG sucks - we see many PC's come in for virus removal and repair, with the client stating it can't be a virus because they have AVG.
