Phone Calls from the Bank..

If I got an email from my bank I'd be suspicious. My Bank never calls me. I get regularly timed snail mail but that's it and it never changes or offers anything.

That's exactly right on the money.

In fact, I've gotten exactly TWO calls from any bank I've ever dealt with - the first would be the time when my bank called to confirm that I issued a check to a former roommate. Seems the signature on the check didn't quite match what they had on file for me. Turns out the roomie swiped a check, tried to forge my signature and make off with 1/2 the cash in my account.

The other call I got from them had to do with some suspicious activity they detected on my card. Seems my card got cloned at a gas station and my pin # was stolen likewise there. They informed me that the card would be cancelled, the cash returned and a temp card could be gotten by visiting any branch - so long as I had proper ID.

But as a general rule, unless there's something fishy going on, most banks won't drop a dime to call you unless there was a really good reason for them to do so.
