I just don't fall for phishing
Simple as that.

Take this for example.

If I got an email from my bank I'd be suspicious. My Bank never calls me. I get regularly timed snail mail but that's it and it never changes or offers anything.

Now if my bank were to want to close my account like the phishing emails claim will happen if I don't log on now, then my bank would just do it with out warning. I'd find out the next time I went to take money out of the bank machine. Then I'd be pissed and I'd storm into the bank demanding answers. That's how banks work. So I'd never respond to an obvious fraud in e-mail.

Really if I get any email I'm not expecting to get I delete it. If it's a greeting from a friend I know it and can read it. If it's some company it consider it SPAM even if it claims to be from a business I use. They get the boot via shift DELETE.

So which is better? I think FireFox is as you can turn it off easier. Sure Microsoft you need to download it but how often does Automatic updates download for you?
