While I don't disagree that the analyst was irresponsible
in the end the analyst is not ultimately responsible for the security of Microsoft software.

MS ignoring these problems is one of the bigger reasons why I and many others have a dislike for them. If they were simply upfront about the problems, even if they weren't doing a better job fixing them, I'd hold them in higher esteem. But of course I do expect them to be both upfront about their problems and be able to fix them quickly.
