What's it going to take?? Flaming idiots!!!
The idea that in this day and age someone would be lugging around highly personal employee information is ridiculous, absurd and negligent. There is NO legitimate reason for someone to have the social security number for anyone on their notebook computer. It should be employee number only, with no access to the social security number.

The only "need-to-know" people (in regards to the SSN) should be those at the IRS and those in payroll departments, but only when they must send W-2 information to the IRS.

When are the legislators going to get serious about this? I hope like hell that some of them or those in their families get burned bad by this type of corporate idiocy and irresponsibility. That's probably what it takes for them to decide that some legislation is needed. The Corporates obviously don't give a crap and just as obviously, the government needs to force some serious changes.
