DRM - The new Microsoft Money.
"I suppose they think it (DRM) will either hurt their bargaining power with the copyright owners or put them at legal liability."

Either that or they're afraid that, since there are less successful attacks on Apple's FairPlay (notice I didn't say less attacks altogether), media companies will give themselves to Apple's very closed DRM and their more open media standards instead of the more open PlaysForSure DRM, and the very closed Zune DRM and Windows Media 9.

"It's just a shame that there is no process in place to make them legally liable for leaving known zero-day flaws unpatched."

If there was, Windows would cost at least twice as much, Office would probably cost 3 times as much, and we'd all be using a lot more open-source software. While not necessarily a bad thing and as much as I hate to admit this, Microsoft Office System works much better with novices and advanced users than anything currently available in the open-source realm, though I'm sure that Office 2007 will quickly change this.
