Using your scenario - If I click on a link to a .DOC file from a web site, then what? (It starts 'playing' and you're owned.)

From the article, it indicates that the media player flaw has not been exploited yet, whereas the Word 0-day has. We've seen in the past how Microsoft will issue an out-of-cycle patch for Media Player flaws. They didn't have any altruistic motives then either.

Hard to accept that Microsoft doesn't have their customer's best interest at heart. Where have you been? This is how they operate now.

Business as usual, I'm afraid.
