They stopped support for Win98 & WinMe in 2006. My WinXP support estimate is based on that not FUD. WinMe was the same age as WinXP. The difference is that WinMe will have been out of production longer.

They are already pushing that people need to migrate before Vista release.

How come it took Linux one month to release a 64bit version and all the drivers are out now.

WinXP tried a 64bit version and it was never used. Vista still isn't ready with a 64bit version with drivers.

Yet no Windows Fans want to admit that Microsoft is behind the times.

By the way the DVD support is in Linux. It is an add-on because of the Movie industry and no other reason.

You mention that your older machine would run on an older unit. First why upgrade then. The eye candy is 90% of what you get with Vista. Second I can install a 2 month old OS on a Pentium 100 with Xubuntu. It has pretty much the same features. Is more complete. It is more secure.
