Intersting concept, but I don't think so
I think it's more a matter of the bad guys finally getting deep enough in the code to spot and exploit these flaws.

Remember, security-flaw exploitation is similar to any other open source community -- there is a small, highly-competent core that does the hardest work, and a larger group which adds onto what the core provides.

This core can only work so fast, like anyone else, and until they reach a certain chunk of code, that chunk isn't exploited. Once they get there, then all of their "children" start playing with it and developing their own stuff.

And, after all, there are so MANY security holes in MS code, it takes YEARS to find them all!!!
