Company accused of selling fake antispyware settles suit

Anybody remember...

years and years ago I remember some guy sellling software which suppposedly repositioned data across the platters of your hard drive, evenly spreading the 1s and 0s. The purported benefit was that it was possible that all the data could potentially all get on one side of a particular platter, throwing the drive off balance, causing the platter to tip and crash against the heads. It was laughable at best, but I'm quite certain he found enough clueless people to buy into his pitch to make a few bucks. Just goes to show...there really is one born every minute, sometimes two.
