XP is still not safe off the internet
remember the rootkit on audio CDs from Sony, how about the XP virus infected iPods from Malaysia? If the OS is easy to compromise it will happen internet or no. How about viruses imbedded in powerpoint and word files? How about from game CDs, I saw some viruses on game CDs a while back. Could even be on DVDs these days. Point is, the OS has to have a safety to prevent these things from installing themselves without the user knowing and XP does not. Apples OSX is great, but you only get a request for admin password on malicious code installs. Apple could do better, (maybe they do in Tiger?) by telling the user that this file should not have needed a admin password to run and to be real suspicious of it.
