Same thing under Windows ...
The same issues related to password and patches apply to MS products.

Many users use stupid passwords and you can bet there are a few hundred Windows (as well as *nix) servers with a password of "GOD" or "SERVER" or "MASTER" or something simple like that.

When it comes to patches, a know vulnerability with available patch is a problem in every platform. If you don't patch your system, you will be completely open to the vulnerability no matter what platform you have.

Where things are different is that with MS Windows you never know if the patch actually fixed the vulnerability. It is a know fact that most of MS fixes are usually a cosmetic change to hide the problem without permanently fixing offending code.
In contrast, when a Linux patch is released, IT IS A FULL FIX to the vulnerability. Granted a NEW problem can be introduced with a fix (on any platform) but the original vulnerability is usually fixed by the Linux community on the 1st try.
