WAKE UP CALL FOR PATCHING ON LINUX

If this is possible on one of the nation's most advanced solaris / linux super computer setups from not installing patches, who is to say this wont happen if linux is going to be used widely on the desktop? This is a wakeup call for better linux / solaris patch management and handling. If the sysadmins of a huge supercomputer project can't get the patches right what happens to the typical stupid desktop user?
