I suspect that if you were to poll most of those "OS X and Nix"
users you would find a large percentage of them also have at
home or work Windows machines as well. that is true in my case
so I feel I am qualified to comment about it.

Of the three machines I have here in my computer, OS X, Linux,
and Windows, the one I have to spend the most time on securing
is the Windows machine. Now admittedly I am a bit paranoid, I
run AV and firewalls on all three systems, I do so because I have
been around computers for a long time and know that it is
possible to compromise any OS.

Anyway, my main point is that of the three OS's I am running
here patching is much more critical on the Windows machine. A
48 hour delay patching XP is much more likely to lead to a
compromised system that with the other two.
