I missed nothing
The article stated their load reached 50GB/second and 4 million users and hour. That was double any previous demand. No one could of possibly forecast that. The article also stated that the problem was resolved within 4 hours by upgrading the hardware which means they now have the infrastructure to meet this demand. That is also impressive.

Although the point of the article was that they had a problem, the way they handled it and the sheer numbers behind what they are doing are phenominal.
